

Well dinner was going to be a lovely simple affair, roast chicken, some cherry tomatoes, a little salad, baguette and the lovely mystery can. Imagine my delight to find what looked like small pickled onions floating in a primordial soup. After verification from my brave flat mate we concluded they must be gooseberries. The only thing to do was to chop up a shallot, a little garlic, some of the tomatoes, sweat them down, add the gooseberries, a touch of jaggery and splash of balsamic vinegar and allow to reduce into a dark chutney. All in all it wasn’t too bad – but could have definitely been better! Looking forward to what culinary delights I shall be bringing to the table tonight – especially as I’m going round to my girlfriends for dinner!
